Nice piece of art, integrated nice within the landscape and history of the land...
It is not the statue of King Arthur... please read about it...
If you are in the area and visiting the Tintagel castle of course worth stopping for a moment and admiring the statue... and for couple of more moments admiring the background formed by the Cornish coast and Atlantic Ocean....
You can only visit the statue by buying tickets for Tintagel castle, as inside the castle land, or you can admire it from the far, from the coast path...
Really loved finally getting to see Gallos well worth the £18 as it's such a great walk up there and you can stay as long as you like.
Amazing statue at the edge of a cliff. As there are quite a few people around, you might need to find a quiet time to get a picture without people in it.
To visit the statue you have to pay the entry fee to Tintagel castle, which is a bit pricey.
Such a spectacular location for this amazing 8ft Statue!! Stands tall and proud guarding the whole Island.
Well worth a visit but be warned - you Do have to be fairly healthy and have good knees as the trail up, down and around the Island is hard going with some steep inclines.
I used the Land Rover service to get back up the hill. (A great experience in itself!)
Beautiful scenery. Ticket cost £52 for a family of four but even if you don’t buy ticket you can see the surrounding which is as spectacular. Don’t forget to have Cornish cream tea with scones at the nearby bakery when you visit there.
It is in the Tintagel castle on the far end of the premises. It really is a beautiful statue, a very powerful one. I liked it very much.
If you want a good photo you have to come early. There will be a lot of tourist making photographs while they stand beside it.
A great place to go and visit.
Gallos is a photograph you need to take yourself.. and if your up for it Walk from the Main car park and back.. don't cheat and use the Land Rover... Earn your Photo with the past King...
The view is amazing, though getting up there (the castle is on a hill) can be hard, depending on your condition.
I would not recommend it for older people or for dogs. The steps are high and the stairs a narrow. There is constant traffic from other visitors that climb down the path while you move up and you have to manoeuvre around them.
BUT: if you manage to get there it is a most beautiful place, where you start to believe, that King Arthur and his Knights really lived, fought and died for glory.
The statue of the mythic king is one of the finest I have ever seen. If you are up for it, go see it :)
